Which party game should you pick?

Start with Imposter if nobody knows anything about sport, and with an auction if your group loves a bidding war.

Only two of you in an auction? Computer managers fill the empty seats.

How do you start a party game on your phones?

One of you taps "Play with friends", picks a game and sends the link — it takes less than a minute.

1. Pick the game. The host chooses Imposter, an auction or a quiz, and the sport or category.
2. Send one link. Share it in the group chat, or read out the 4-letter code. Everyone joins in the browser, with no app and no account.
3. Put it on the TV if you like. Open deadlineday.app/tv on the TV, and everyone scans the code. Votes, bids and results play out on the big screen.
4. Play, then switch. When a game ends, the host picks the next one, and the same group stays in the room.

Which party games need no app at all?

The classics still work, and they mix well with a round on your phones.

• Charades. Act out a film or a song without words, and your team guesses before the time runs out.
• Two truths and a lie. Say three things about yourself, and the others guess which one is false.
• Werewolf. A bigger version of Imposter for 8 or more, with one person leading the game.
• The forehead game. Write a name on a note, stick it on a friend's forehead, and they ask yes-or-no questions until they guess it.

A big group of more than 8? Split into two rooms, or play Werewolf. Planning for December? Christmas party game. Only football fans in the room? Football games to play with friends. Friends in other cities? Games to play with friends online. A night with the family? Family game night.
