How the car auction game works

  1. Send one link to your group chat. Everyone joins on their own phone, with no app and no sign-up. On the same sofa? Open deadlineday.app/tv on the TV, and everyone scans the code.
  2. Everyone gets 100M of play money. The cars come up one at a time, and you bid live on your phone.
  3. Watch each car while you bid. Turn on "With car videos", and the TV (or the host's phone) plays a video of the car from YouTube.
  4. The real auction prices decide. The prices each car really sold for are revealed from the cheapest up, and the priciest garage wins.

Questions

Are the prices real?

Yes. Every car is a real car sold at a public auction — RM Sotheby's, Bonhams, Gooding, Artcurial, Barrett-Jackson, Bring a Trailer and others — and it scores the price it sold for, in US dollars. The prices stay hidden until everyone has bought their cars.

Which cars are in it?

Classic cars built from the 1910s to the 1990s: everyday cars like the Beetle and the 2CV, sports cars, muscle cars, rally cars and race cars. One car per model.

Do we need an app?

No. Everyone plays in the browser on their own phone. The car videos play from YouTube on the TV or on the host's phone, and you can also play without them.

Is this made by an auction house or a car maker?

No. Deadline Day is an independent party game made by AddonNordic ApS in Denmark. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by any auction house, car maker, YouTube or Google.

Is there real money involved?

No. Everyone bids with 100M of play money, and nothing can be won or lost.
