How do you play Guess the Footballer?
Everyone sees the same clues about a mystery footballer, one at a time, and the first to pick the right name out of three scores a point.
- Send the link. One of you starts a game and shares the link or the 4-letter code. Play with up to 4 friends for free, or play alone.
- Watch the clues drop. A new clue appears every 7 seconds: three facts, then the country, the position and the season.
- Guess when you dare. Pick one of three names. Right, and you score a point. Wrong, and everyone else scores a point and the round ends.
- First to 10 wins. Playing alone? You get 10 rounds, and the game counts how many you got.
The earlier you guess, the more you risk. Wait for the last clue, and someone faster may take the point first.
What are the clues?
Six clues per player, from the hardest to the easiest, all about the player's best season.

Current stars and legends are mixed, and the two wrong names are usually from the same part of the pitch and the same era, so you can't guess from the position alone.
Can you play Guess the Footballer online with friends?

- Create a game and send the link. Send the link to the five-a-side group, the fantasy league chat or the pub table. Everyone joins on their own phone with the link or a 4-letter code.
- Bid on one footballer at a time. Goalkeepers, centre-backs, playmakers and strikers come up one at a time, today's stars mixed with legends in their best season. Bid in steps of 0.5M; every bid puts the clock back to 10 seconds.
- Pick a shape when the hammer has fallen for the last time. The match is played out live, chance by chance, and the stronger XI wins. With three or more managers you play a full season, home and away, and the top two meet in a final.

Football Guess the player rules in one minute
- Players: 1 to 8. Up to 4 play free; alone you get 10 rounds and a score.
- Clues: three facts from the best season, then the flag, the position and the season.
- Answers: three names to choose from. Right scores you 1 point; wrong gives everyone else 1.
- Winning: first to 10 points.
- The footballers: 19 goalkeepers, 42 centre-backs, 31 right-backs, 32 left-backs, 23 attacking mids, 25 defensive mids, 34 central mids, 15 left mids, 15 right mids, 32 strikers, 30 right wingers and 29 left wingers.

Can I play Guess the player alone?
Yes. Alone you get 10 rounds, and the game counts how many you got right. With friends, the first to 10 points wins.
How hard are the football clues?
The first three are facts from the footballer's best season, the hardest first. The flag, position and season come last, and by then someone has usually guessed.
What happens if I guess the wrong footballer?
Everyone else scores a point and the round ends, so a wild early guess can cost you.
Which footballers are in Football Guess the player?
327 footballers, from today's stars to legends whose best season goes back to 1974. Each one is rated on that best season, so a legend and a current star can meet in the same auction.
