How the football auction works

1. 📲Create a game and send the link. Send the link to the five-a-side group, the fantasy league chat or the pub table. Everyone joins on their own phone with the link or a 4-letter code.
2. 🔨Bid on one footballer at a time. Goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and strikers come up one at a time, stars and legends back to 1974. With only five spots each, every lot counts. Every bid puts the clock back to 10 seconds.
3. 🏟️Pick a five-a-side shape. The match plays out live and the stronger five wins. Three or more of you play a mini season, and the top two meet in a final.

• 🕵️Guess the player. Six clues about a mystery footballer, one at a time. Name them first — a wrong guess hands everyone else the point.
• ❤️This or That. Two footballers, same position, same era. One of you picks in secret, the rest guess which.

What does the football auction cost?

The football auction rules in one minute

• Budget: every manager starts with 100M of play money. You always keep enough to fill the rest of your squad, so you can never go broke.
• Squad: 5 players: a goalkeeper and four outfield players, no bench. The full 16-player squad is one tap away.
• Bidding: the clock starts at 10 seconds and every bid restarts it. Tap Pass when you are out, and when everyone has passed the hammer falls straight away.
• Hidden ratings: you never see a footballer's rating during the auction. You bid on what you know.
• The last manager standing: when everyone else has a full squad, the last manager gets random footballers to fill theirs. Bid while you can.
• Lineup: Pick a five-a-side shape: Five-a-side 2-1-1 or Five-a-side 1-2-1. A centre-back at striker or a winger in goal costs rating, so a cheap goalkeeper late on can be worth more than another forward.
• The result: one match with two managers, a mini season with more. The stronger five-a-side team wins, and the ratings are revealed after the match.
