How do you play Guess the Handball Player?
Everyone sees the same clues about a mystery handball player, one at a time, and the first to pick the right name out of three scores a point. Today's stars and the legends of the sport are mixed, so you need to know more than this season's league table.
- Send the link. One of you starts a game and shares the link or the 4-letter code. Play with up to 4 friends for free, or play alone.
- Watch the clues drop. A new clue appears every 7 seconds: three facts, then the country, the position and the season.
- Guess when you dare. Pick one of three names. Right, and you score a point. Wrong, and everyone else scores a point and the round ends.
- First to 10 wins. Playing alone? You get 10 rounds, and the game counts how many you got.
The earlier you guess, the more you risk. Wait for the last clue, and someone faster may take the point first.
What are the clues?
Six clues per player, from the hardest to the easiest, all about the player's best season.
| Clue | What you see |
|---|---|
| Facts 1–3 | A trophy, a record or a milestone from that season |
| Country | The player's flag |
| Position | Goalkeeper, wing, back or pivot |
| Season | The year of the best season, or "plays today" for current stars |
Current stars and legends are mixed, and the two wrong names are usually from the same position and the same era, so you can't guess from the position alone.
Can you play Guess the Handball Player online with friends?
Yes. Everyone plays on their own phone, so it works on the same sofa, over a video call or straight from the group chat. Want it on the big screen? Open deadlineday.app/tv on the TV and everyone scans the code.
What else can you play in the same room?
- Handball Imposter. Everyone gets the same handball player except one bluffer. Handball Imposter
- A live handball auction. Everyone gets 100M and bids for the same players — the stronger seven wins. Handball auction
- Another sport. The same game with footballers or hockey players. Guess the Footballer · Guess the Hockey Player
Then put a price on them: the handball auction
Same group, same handball players, more at stake. Handball auction
- Create a game and send the link. Share the link with the team after practice or in the club chat. Everyone plays on their own phone, in the clubhouse or at home.
- Bid on one handball player at a time. Goalkeepers, wings, backs and pivots are auctioned one at a time, stars from 1990 up to today. Goalkeepers are scarce, and everyone knows it.
- Set up your seven on court. The match runs over 60 minutes with the score building goal by goal. Level at the end? It goes to 7-metre throws, and the stronger seven wins them.
More handball games for the same group

- Imposter. Everyone gets the same handball player except one bluffer. One word each, then vote.
Why handball fans keep playing Guess the player
- A handball tip. Most facts are national-team medals, and a handful of nations win most of them. Once the flag appears, it is often down to a few names.
- Fast rounds. A clue every 7 seconds, so a round is over in less than a minute.
- Risk decides it. Guess on the first fact and you might steal the point. Guess wrong and everyone else gets it.
- 168 handball players, back to 1990. A handball player from decades ago can come up right after one from this season.
- Alone or together. Play ten rounds solo to warm up, then send the link and beat your friends.
- No ads. Ever. Just the clues and the clock.
