How do you play Esports Imposter?
Everyone gets the same pro player on their own phone except one of you, the imposter, who only sees the role (AWPer, in-game leader, entry fragger or rifler) and the flag.
- Send the link. One of you starts a game and shares the link or the 4-letter code. You need 3 to 8 players — free for up to 4.
- Everyone gets the same pro player — except the imposter, who has to bluff from the position and the flag.
- Say one word each about the player. Out loud in the same room, or typed if you play online.
- Vote out the bluffer. Caught imposters get one last chance: guess the player and steal a point.
An imposter who escapes scores 2 points; when the imposter is caught, everyone who voted right scores 1. Five rounds, a new player every round, about 5–10 minutes.
Can you play Esports Imposter online?
Yes — play in the same room or miles apart, each on your own phone, and the host picks which before the game starts.
| Together (same room) | Apart (online) | |
|---|---|---|
| Your word | Said out loud, in turn | Typed in the game |
| The vote | The host starts it when everyone has spoken | Everyone sees the clues together, then votes |
| Works best | On the sofa, at practice, at a party | Over a video call or straight from the group chat |
What else can you play in the same room?
Keep the same group and switch game: every sport also has a live auction, Guess the player and Pick your favorite.
- Guess the Esports Player. Clues drop one at a time, and the first to name the pro scores. Guess the Esports Player
- A live esports auction. Everyone gets 100M and bids for the same pros — the stronger five wins. Esports auction
- Another sport. The same game with footballers, basketball players or racing drivers.
- Ideas for tonight. Six games for your group chat, with and without us. Football games to play with friends
Then put a price on them: the esports auction
Same group, same pro players, more at stake. Esports auction
- Create a game and send the link. Paste the link in your Discord or the squad chat. Everyone joins on their own phone or in the browser, between matches.
- Bid on one pro player at a time. AWPers, in-game leaders, entry fraggers and riflers from 5v5 tactical shooters come up one at a time, from the 2013 scene to today. Two teams after the same star AWPer is where the budget burns.
- Pick your five on the server. The final is best of three maps to 13 rounds. Almost level? It goes to 2-1 and overtime, and the stronger five wins.
More esports games for the same group
- The live auction. Everyone gets 100M and bids for the same pro players. Build the stronger five and win.
- Guess the player. Six clues about a mystery pro player, one at a time. Name them first — a wrong guess hands everyone else the point.
- This or That. Two pro players, same position, same era. One of you picks in secret, the rest guess which.
Why esports fans keep playing Imposter
- An esports tip. Draw a rifler as the imposter and "aim" or "clutch" will fit. An in-game leader is harder to fake: the others expect a word about calls.
- Bluffing is the skill. The imposter has to sound like a pro player expert with nothing but a position and a flag.
- Built for the same room. Say your word out loud on the sofa, or type it when you play apart.
- 3 to 8 players. Free for up to 4, Host Pass for bigger groups.
- One last chance. A caught imposter can still steal a point by naming the player.
- No ads. Ever. Just the word, the vote and the accusations.
