How do you play a game on a video call?
Keep the call on your laptop or tablet, and play on your phone. One of you starts a game and drops the link in the call chat; everyone opens it on their own phone. The call carries the talking and the laughing, and the game handles the bids, the secret words, the votes and the results.
| What you need | What it does |
|---|---|
| Any video call | Faces and voices, on the laptop, the tablet or the TV |
| One phone per player | Each person plays in the browser, so their cards and bids stay private |
| One game link | The host sends it in the call chat; a 4-letter code works too |
| A shared screen (music and video games only) | The host shares the screen that plays the songs, trailers or videos |
- Start the call as usual. Laptop, tablet or a TV with a camera: whatever your group already uses.
- Start a game on your phone. Tap "Play with friends", pick the game and send the link in the chat.
- Everyone joins on their own phone. No app and no account; names pop up as people join.
- Play a short round first. Imposter or a Quick draft takes 5 to 10 minutes, then pick the next game in the same room.
One tip: if the call and the game share one device, use headphones, so the game sounds do not echo back into the call.
Start a free gameWhich games work on a video call?
All of them, and you switch without sending a new link. The difference is only what happens on the call.
| Game | Players | On the call | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Imposter | 3–20 | Pick "Play online", type your word, then argue it out on camera | ~10 min |
| Live auction | 2–20 | Bid from your phone; every bid restarts the clock, so the call hears who panicked | ~30 min |
| Quick draft | 2–20 | The same auction, starting line-up only | 5–10 min |
| Music, trailers and viral videos | 2–20 | The host shares the screen that plays them; everyone bids on their phone | ~15 min |
| Guess the player | 1–20 | Everyone answers on their own phone at the same time | 5–10 min |
The auctions come in nine sports: football, basketball, handball, ice hockey, racing, darts, rugby, esports and cricket, plus classic cars. Where a game uses real data, the real result decides who wins: hidden player ratings, real auction prices or real YouTube view counts. Nobody can argue with the host about the score.
What should you play first?
Start with Imposter. It explains itself in one sentence, it needs only 3 people, and it is built for talking, which is the one thing a video call does well.
- A quiet group, or new to each other: Guess the player or This or That. Everyone answers at once, so nobody is put on the spot.
- Sports fans: a Quick draft first, then the full auction if the call keeps going.
- Music or film people: the music quiz or the trailer game, with the host sharing the screen.
- A big group across several homes: Imposter or an auction for up to 20, all in one room.
- Family in another city: Imposter with everyday words. See family game night.

Questions
Are these games free?
Yes. Every game is free for up to 4 players, with no sign-up and no ads. For 5 to 20 players, the host buys a Host Pass once for €4.99, and nobody else pays.
Do we need to download anything?
No. The game runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer. Keep your video call app open as usual and open the game link next to it.
Which video call app works?
Any of them. The game does not plug into the call, so you can use whatever call or voice chat your group already uses.
Can we play from different cities or countries?
Yes. One person sends the link, and everyone joins on their own phone over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
What is the best game for three friends on a call?
Imposter. It needs at least 3 players, a round takes a couple of minutes, and in "Play online" everyone types their word instead of saying it.
How do the music and video games work over a call?
The songs, trailers and videos play on the host's phone or computer. Share that screen in the call, and everyone else bids on their own phone.
How many can play at once?
Up to 4 for free, and up to 20 in one room with a Host Pass.
