Which games work for a family game night?
The ones where a parent and a teenager start on equal terms. Each of these runs in one room, and you switch without a new link.
- Imposter. Everyone gets the same everyday word, from pizza to penguin, except one bluffer. Say one word each and vote. Nobody needs to know anything special. Imposter game
- Hits. Bid on the biggest songs from the 80s to today and hear each one on the TV. Parents know the old ones, teenagers know the new ones. Music quiz
- Trailers. Watch the biggest movie trailers together and bid on the ones the world watched most. Movie trailer game
- Song contest. Bid on songs from the Eurovision finals since 1956, and the songs' real results decide. Song contest party game
- Views. Bid on the most-watched YouTube videos ever, and the most real views wins. Which video has more views?
- A sports auction. For a sporty family: everyone gets 100M and builds a team, and the stronger team wins the match. Auction game
- Guess the player. Clues drop one at a time, and the first to name the player scores. Guess the Footballer
Planning for December? The Christmas party game has Christmas words for Imposter and an auction of Christmas songs.
Start a free game| Game | Players | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Imposter | 3–8 | Everyone, no knowledge needed |
| Hits | 2–8 | Mixed ages: 80s against today |
| Trailers and Views | 2–8 | Watching together on the TV |
| Sports auction | 2–8 | A sporty family with half an hour |
| Guess the player | 1–8 | Quick rounds between the others |
How do you set up family game night on your phones?
A parent hosts from their phone, and the TV becomes the board. It takes about a minute.
- Open the TV. Go to deadlineday.app/tv in the TV's browser, or on a laptop connected to the TV.
- Start the game. The parent taps "Play with friends" and picks the game.
- Everyone joins. Scan the code on the TV or type the 4-letter code. No app, no account.
- Play, then switch. When a game ends, the host picks the next, and everyone stays in the room.
A one-hour family game night plan
Three games, short to long, so everyone gets a win before bedtime.
- 10 minutes: Imposter. Five quick rounds with food and animals to warm up.
- 20 minutes: Hits or Trailers. The auction on the TV, with the songs or trailers playing while you bid.
- 20 minutes: the decider. A Quick draft for the sporty ones, or Views for everyone else.
- 10 minutes: the rematch. Whoever lost the most picks the last game.
Which family games need no screen?
The classics still work, and they mix well with a round on your phones.
- Charades. Act out a film or a song without words, and your team guesses before the time runs out.
- The forehead game. Write a name on a note, stick it on someone's forehead, and they ask yes-or-no questions until they guess it.
- Twenty questions. One thinks of a person or a thing, and the others have twenty yes-or-no questions to get it.
- The alphabet game. Pick a category, and go round naming one thing for each letter, A to Z.
Friends coming over instead? Party games on your phones or games to play with friends.

Questions
What age is Deadline Day for?
Players aged 13 and up, so it suits families with teenagers. A parent hosts the game, and only the host can buy a Host Pass.
Do we need a game for every phone?
No. One of you starts the game and sends the link, and everyone joins in the browser on their own phone or tablet. No app, no account.
Can we play it on the TV?
Yes. Open deadlineday.app/tv in the TV's browser, or on a laptop connected to the TV, and everyone scans the code. The TV shows the votes, bids and results, and nothing secret.
Which game works if not everyone likes sport?
Imposter with everyday words, and Hits, the music auction with songs from the 80s to today. Nobody needs to know anything about sport for either.
Can family in other places join?
Yes. Grandparents or cousins in another city join from the same link over a video call, and play on their own phone.
Is it free?
Yes. Up to 4 players play every game free, with no sign-up and no ads.
What does the Host Pass cost?
€4.99, paid once by the host. It opens every game hosted on that device to 8 players. Nobody else pays.
