How the metal music quiz works

  1. Send one link to your group chat. Everyone joins on their own phone, with no app and no sign-up. On the same sofa? Open deadlineday.app/tv on the TV, and everyone scans the code.
  2. Everyone gets 100M of play money. The albums come up one at a time, and you bid live on your phone.
  3. Watch each music video while you bid. Turn on "With music videos", and the TV (or the host's phone) plays the official video of the album's biggest single.
  4. The all-time lists decide. Every album scores from where it ranks on the greatest-metal-albums lists of Rolling Stone, Metal Hammer, Kerrang! and more, and the best collection wins.

Questions

How are the albums scored?

Every album gets points from where it ranks on lists of the greatest metal albums by Rolling Stone, Loudwire, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Decibel and others. Albums since 2000 are scored from the same magazines' lists of the best albums of the century, on the same scale. The points stay hidden until the end.

Which kinds of metal are in it?

Heavy, thrash, death, black, doom, power and nu metal, from 1970 to today, with no more than three albums per band. Hard rock, grunge and glam are left out.

Do we need Spotify?

No. The music videos play from the bands' own YouTube channels, on the TV or on the host's phone. Nobody signs in to anything, and you can also play without the videos.

Is this made by a magazine or a band?

No. Deadline Day is an independent party game made by AddonNordic ApS in Denmark. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by YouTube, Google, any magazine, band or record label.

Is there real money involved?

No. Everyone bids with 100M of play money, and nothing can be won or lost.
