Stream ideas

10 stream ideas that give your chat something to do.

The best stream ideas for a small channel are formats you can repeat every week, where chat makes a choice every few minutes and you're not talking alone. Here are ten. The first is the one we made a free game for: a weekly game night with your friends, where your chat guesses along.

10 stream ideas for small streamers

  • 1. A weekly game night with the same friends. Same night, same cast, a new game every week. Your friends fill the silence, and viewers start to pick favourites. This is the one we built a game for (below).
  • 2. Chat decides the challenge. Before each round, chat votes on a rule: no healing, only pistols, worst car. You play it, they watch the result of their own choice.
  • 3. Viewer games. Play with your viewers in a game anyone can join. Even three viewers in the lobby turns a quiet stream into a game night.
  • 4. Blind first playthrough. A game you have never played, and chat gets to watch you get it wrong. Pick one that just came out, so people are searching for it.
  • 5. Tier lists where chat votes. Rank games, snacks, characters or songs. Chat argues, you decide. Easy to do on a slow night with no game at all.
  • 6. Co-stream with another small streamer. Two channels, one session. You each meet the other's viewers. Ask someone in your own category, not someone ten times bigger.
  • 7. Personal-best night. Speedrun attempts, high scores or a hard level with a counter on screen. Every attempt is a small story chat can root for.
  • 8. A long project over many streams. Build one city, one farm or one base, one stream at a time. Viewers return to see what happened since last week.
  • 9. React to your viewers' clips. Ask chat to send their own clips or screenshots, and rate them live. They show up, because their clip might be next.
  • 10. A live auction with friends, chat guessing. Everyone gets the same budget and bids on athletes from their own phone. Chat guesses who buys each player with !1 to !20. That's Deadline Day.

How to pick the right one

  • Can you do it again next week? A series gives people a reason to follow. A one-off doesn't.
  • Does chat have a job? A vote, a guess or a pick every few minutes keeps new viewers from leaving.
  • Can you be found? In a huge category you're on page 50. A small or new category puts you near the top.

Questions streamers ask

What should I stream as a small streamer?

Pick a format you can repeat every week and that gives chat something to do: a game night with the same friends, chat-decides challenge runs, viewer games or a blind first playthrough. A fixed night and a fixed format make it easier for new viewers to come back.

What can I stream if I don't want to talk alone for hours?

Stream with friends. With three to eight people on a call, there is always something happening, even when chat is quiet. A party game where everyone plays from their own phone works well, because nobody needs the same console or PC game.

What are good stream ideas for chat interaction?

Formats where chat makes a choice every few minutes: votes, guesses, predictions or picking the next challenge. In Deadline Day, viewers guess who buys each player by typing !1 to !20 in Twitch chat, with no bot to install.

Do these stream ideas work on YouTube and TikTok live?

Yes. All ten work on any platform. For Deadline Day, Twitch chat guesses with !1 to !20; on YouTube or TikTok live, viewers guess with the play-along link on their phones.

Can a small streamer get the Deadline Day creator pass?

Yes. There is no follower minimum. Send us your channel link and we reply with your code and your own link. You get €2 for every Host Pass bought through it within 30 days, and your viewers get 20% off.
