What makes a good Twitch chat game
- Chat joins by typing. No account, no app, no link to click. Every extra step is a viewer who doesn't play.
- Short rounds. A new question every minute or two, so someone who just arrived can join right away.
- A score on screen. Viewers stay for the leaderboard. Seeing their name is the reward.
- Nothing to set up. A bot with OAuth and permissions is one more thing to break mid-stream.
How chat plays Deadline Day
- Start a game and pick "I'm streaming". Type your channel name in "Let Twitch chat play along". The game only reads chat.
- A player goes up for auction. Each friend has a number on screen. Chat types !1, !2… (or a name) to guess who buys.
- Early guesses score more. A guess before the first bid is worth 3 points, after it 1. The top 3 scouts are shown on stream.
Up to 2,000 viewers can play at once. Set the stream clock to +5 or +10 seconds, so chat sees the whole bidding war. Full OBS setup: the creator page.
Why it works for a small channel
- A category you can top. Deadline Day has its own Twitch category, and it is new, so your stream sits near the top instead of on page 50.
- Your friends fill the silence. With three to eight friends bidding, there is always something happening, even when chat is quiet.

Questions streamers ask
Do I need a bot for Twitch chat games?
Not for Deadline Day. Type your channel name in the game and it reads your chat on its own. You don't install a bot or log in, and the game never writes in your chat.
How does chat guess?
Each friend in the auction has a number on screen. Viewers type !1, !2 and so on (or the friend's name) to guess who will buy the player up for auction. The last guess counts, and a guess placed before the first bid scores 3 points instead of 1.
How many viewers can play?
Up to 2,000 viewers at a time, from Twitch chat and from the play-along link on their phones.
Does stream delay ruin the guessing?
No. Set the stream clock to +5 or +10 seconds, so chat sees the whole bidding war before the gavel drops. A guess that lands after the gavel doesn't count.
Does it work on YouTube or TikTok live?
Yes, with the play-along link instead of chat commands. Paste it in your chat, and viewers guess on their phones.
Can a small streamer get the creator pass?
