# Deadline Day — Sports, Song and Video Auctions with Friends

> Deadline Day is a party game for friends, played on their own phones in the browser — free for up to 4, and up to 8 with a one-time Host Pass. The main game is a live football, basketball, handball, ice hockey, racing, esports or cricket auction: everyone gets 100M of play money, players come up one at a time, and the stronger team wins the match at the end. The same group can also play three shorter games: Guess the player, Pick your favorite and Imposter. And there are three auctions without a sport: Song contest (songs from the Eurovision finals), Views (YouTube's most-watched videos) and Funny (YouTube's funniest shorts), where the real results or view counts decide. No sign-up, no download, no ads.

## The four sports games
- Auction: bid live for current stars and legends in their best season, one player at a time. Build a squad (football: 11 + 5 substitutes; basketball: 5 + 3; handball: 7 + 3; ice hockey: 6 + 4; racing: 3 drivers + 2 reserves, and the match is a race decided on team points; esports: 5 + 2, and the match is a best of three; cricket: 11 + 3 with a wicketkeeper, and the match is a T20 decided by a Super Over if tied), pick a formation, and watch the match. The team with the higher overall rating always wins. Computer managers can fill empty seats.
- Guess the player: clues appear one at a time (three facts, then country, position and season) with three names to choose from. A right guess scores a point; a wrong guess gives every opponent a point. First to 10 wins. Can also be played alone (10 rounds).
- Pick your favorite: two players from the same position and era. One player secretly picks a favorite; everyone else guesses which one (+1 for a right guess). Players take turns picking; the best mind reader wins.
- Imposter: everyone gets the same player except one, who only sees the position and flag. Each says one word — out loud in the same room, or typed online — then everyone votes. For 3+ friends.

## Song and video auctions
The same live auction with 100M each, but you bid on songs or videos and buy 3 to 6 each. The host can play each song or video (official YouTube videos) on the TV while you bid; the clock then runs 20 seconds.
- Song contest: 348 songs from the Eurovision finals 1956–2026 (all finalists 2016–2026, plus winners and top-3 songs 1956–2015). Every song scores from its real result in its own year; the "Final 2026" set replays the real 2026 scoreboard, juries first, then the viewers. Page: https://deadlineday.app/eurovision-party-game
- Views: the most-watched regular YouTube videos (no shorts), mostly music videos. The most views in total wins. Like Higher or Lower, but you outbid your friends. Page: https://deadlineday.app/which-video-has-more-views
- Funny: the most-watched funny YouTube Shorts (animals, fails, pranks; English or no language). Watch each short together and bid on the ones you think went most viral; the most views in total wins. Page: https://deadlineday.app/funny-shorts-game
- Hits: the most-watched official music videos from the 80s to today (artists' own channels), split by decade — the host picks the 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s, 2020s or all. A music party game with friends online: no cards, no Spotify; hear each song on the TV while you bid, and the most views in total wins. Not affiliated with Hitster or Jumbo. - Trailers: the most-watched official movie trailers (film studios' own channels, one trailer per movie). Watch each trailer together on the TV and bid on the ones you think the world watched most; the most views in total wins. Page: https://deadlineday.app/movie-trailer-game
- Metal: the greatest metal albums from Black Sabbath (1970) to today — heavy, thrash, death, black, doom, power and nu metal, no more than three albums per band; you bid on albums, not bands. Each album scores from where it ranks on greatest-metal-albums lists (Rolling Stone, Loudwire, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Decibel and others; albums since 2000 from the same magazines' century lists). The host picks Legends (1970–1999), Modern (2000–) or Mixed, and can play the official video of each album's biggest single. The best collection wins. Page: https://deadlineday.app/metal-music-quiz
- Christmas songs: 56 of the biggest Christmas songs (official videos from the artists' own channels), from Wham! and Mariah Carey to Michael Bublé and Sia. Bid on them while they play on the TV; the most views in total wins. On the Christmas page next to Christmas Imposter: https://deadlineday.app/christmas-party-game
- Imposter with words: everyone gets the same secret everyday word (food, animals, places, jobs, sports, at home, transport, Christmas) except one imposter, who only sees the category. Say or type one word each, then vote. 3 to 8 players. Page: https://deadlineday.app/imposter-game
- View counts come from the YouTube Data API and are refreshed every month. Not affiliated with YouTube, the EBU, the Eurovision Song Contest, any artist, record label or film studio.
